Session 7: A Bone to Pick

Scheduled: August 22nd (Saturday) @ Nevada City Following session: October 3rd @ TBD

Where We Left Off

Frozen mid-initiative, about one in the morning, in the crypts under Tresendar Manor.

Six skeletons in rusted mail are on their feet among three sealed sarcophagi. Versace — in bear form — is at the center of the room. The rest of the party stands at the door in their red cloaks, dice already rolled. Behind the other door: whimpering, and a voice banging metal, yelling “shut up in there.”

What you know going in:

  • The north bridge over the crevasse is the safe one — the south one is rigged to fall
  • A hidden way north of the cavern leads down toward Glasstaff’s office
  • Newton is Ssarnak’s “guest” until you bring something more beautiful than a golden, ruby-eyed newt
  • Glasstaff himself is “no great mortal threat — but he will try to kill you.” Whether he’s even home: unconfirmed. Your source was a man in a net.
  • The garrison drank your beer. Somewhere above you, the manor still doesn’t know you’re here. Probably.

You long-rested until midnight, so you’re close to fresh — check your sheets, not your memories.

Table Notes

  • D&D Beyond is the source of truth: update inventories, spell slots, HP, and wild shape uses at the end of every session (and make sure yours reflect Session 6 before we start).
  • Minis: Paul is painting now and enjoying it. Claim your character’s mini if you want to paint it yourself — otherwise it will be painted for you, with love and unpredictable results.
  • Grom’s player may want to glance at his character sheet before we start. No reason. No reason at all.
  • VTT: Paul is going to try and find a new solution to the VTT — we no longer need all the advanced features, and surely something simpler exists for unveiling maps.
  • Session 6 honors:
    • Versace for excellent conversation as a bear
    • Grom for reading Halia’s game before the purse cooled
    • Orla for decorated mule service (sorry about Newton)
    • Thea for a forgery the dice couldn’t stop
    • Fleck for the greatest and fastest return-on-investment in the campaign so far: a net
