The Lords’ Alliance
A coalition of cities and city-states along the Sword Coast and the North that work together for mutual security and prosperity. Includes Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Silverymoon, Mirabar, Daggerford, and others.
In Brief
The Lords’ Alliance is the closest thing the Sword Coast has to a “government” — a loose alliance of major cities, each represented by a noble or appointed official. The Alliance is concerned with threats to civilization: bandit lords, monstrous incursions, hostile factions like the Zhentarim, and the slow drift of frontier settlements into lawlessness.
They operate through a mix of diplomacy, mercenary contracts, and quietly-placed agents. They are not subtle — Alliance agents tend to wear their colors openly, carry papers of marque, and expect cooperation from local authorities.
Local Agent
Sildar Hallwinter — currently in Phandalin, working to bring some semblance of order to the frontier town. Also a senior member of the Griffon Cavalry of Waterdeep.
Iarno Albrek — was supposed to be the local agent. Has gone dark. (The party will discover the truth.)
Reputation
The Alliance is respected in Neverwinter and Waterdeep, mistrusted in places like Luskan (which considers them imperialist), and mostly unknown in small frontier towns like Phandalin where their reach is, frankly, theoretical.
