Agatha — The Banshee of Conyberry
The wailing remains of an elven noblewoman who died wronged, three hundred years ago, in a forest north of what is now Conyberry.
In Life
In life she was Agatha of the Moonspun, an elven noblewoman of some minor house out of Neverwinter. The histories give different accounts of how she died — betrayed by a lover, betrayed by a sister, betrayed by herself; the songs are inconsistent. What is agreed: she was beautiful in a way that made men do stupid things, she was vain in a way that made her enemies do worse, and she died in a clearing in the woods with a knife in her ribs and her hair shorn at the scalp.
She has not forgotten the second part.
In Death
Agatha is now a banshee. She haunts the clearing where she died, half a mile north of the Conyberry ruins, where a grass-grown mound and a single standing stone mark her grave.
She has been there for three centuries. The few visitors who have approached her and lived describe a pale figure rising from the mound without disturbing a single blade of grass, hair the color of frost, eyes of cold white fire.
